Sean Tuohy, adoptive father of Michael Oher whose life story is featured in The Blind Side, willshare his family’s story of adoption at the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina annual fundraising luncheon - A Place to Call Home - on May 20, 2010 in Greensboro.

“Sean was an American success story: he had come from nothing and made himself rich,” wrote Michael Lewis in The Blind Side, the best-selling book that inspired the major motion picture starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw. The Blind Side tells the story of Michael Oher, a homeless teenager turned first-round draft pick NFL football player, with the support and love of the Tuohy family. Sean Tuohy, Michael’s adoptive father, was a record-breaking basketball player before becoming a successful entrepreneur and NBA broadcaster.

John Kasay, kicker for the Carolina Panthers, will serve as honorary host of the event. Kasay holds virtually every Panther kicking record, and is also the all-time points leader of the Panthers. Kasay formerly held the record for most field goals in a single season with 37, which he achieved during the 1996 NFL Season, and he was awarded his only Pro Bowl appearance as a result. Kasay hit his 400th field goal on December 6, 2009 in a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is only the seventh player in NFL history to accomplish that.

The A Place to Call Home luncheon offers a program designed to inspire individuals to support the mission of Children's Home Society. Through personal stories, this fundraiser presents a wonderful opportunity to help Children’s Home Society find permanent, safe, and loving homes for children.

The 2010 A Place to Call Home luncheon will be held May 20, 2010 at 11:30 am in Greensboro. Individuals interested in more information should call 1-800-632-1400 or contact adark@chsnc.org.
