ROPER APPAREL & FOOTWEAR, JIMMY WAYNE and PROJECT MEET ME HALFWAY TEAM UP FOR COAT DRIVE

(Aurora, Colorado- October 8, 2010) Country artist Jimmy Wayne, Project Meet Me Halfway and Roper Apparel & Footwear, one of the industry’s foremost western wear manufacturers, have teamed up to provide clean used and new coats to homeless and runaway youth in Colorado. On November 12th and 13th, Roper will be holding its fall Friends & Family warehouse sale in Aurora, CO, where people can donate their clean, gently used coats or purchase new coats for donation. Doors will open at 8am each day and close at 2pm. The Roper warehouse is located at 16456 E Airport Circle, Aurora, CO 80011.

Roper has sponsored Project Meet Me Halfway since January 1st, 2010 when the organization was founded by country artist, Jimmy Wayne as he began his 1700 mile walk across America. Project Meet Me Halfway, is a non-profit organization that raises awareness of youth who age out of the foster care system without the necessary resources to become successful adults. Wayne’s organization advocates for youth through its Street Team volunteer network. To date, more than 500 volunteers across the US are connecting with community organizations schools, churches, civic organizations, group homes, foster care facilities, etc. to serve youth in foster care and youth facing homelessness. Roper continues to show their support for at-risk youth and they are excited at the opportunity to help keep children warm this winter in Colorado communities.

Jimmy Wayne grew up in a variety of foster and group homes, and occasionally found himself homeless as a teen. He was given a second chance when Bea and Russell Costner gave him a home and fresh start when he was only 16 years old. He has never forgotten the generosity of the couple, who were in their 70's when they took him in. "Because I was helped when I needed it, I want to try and help now," Wayne said. "If the bit of celebrity I have can help me raise awareness of this situation --that there are kids and young people out there who need our help, then I feel like I have accomplished my goal. There's so much one person can do, and so many ways they can make a difference. It just takes one person to help someone to a better life."
